This is a blog describing my thoughts, feelings, and experiences while reading any books that I find. I started this blog the summer before my junior year of high school in order to complete a summer reading assignment for my AP Language/Composition class. As of the September of my senior year, I am opening the blog to any books I read.

Catcher in the Rye, Post 1
So, I've started reading the novel The Catcher in the Rye. And, so far, at page 52, I am loving it. The main character, Holden, is just unbelievably real. I love all the traits of his character. His inner monologues show exactly how he's feeling about any given situation. Moreover, though, they give you glimpses into his earlier life. I've noticed that at least once a chapter, something has reminded Holden of his past (like in the beginning, when he started to talk about his brother D.B., or when his roommate brought up Jane) and he's gone into detail at least one story about it, before getting back to his point. He's shown a lot of different states of emotion through just this far of the book: jealousy, sadness, and happiness; but mostly he's shown his easy-going nature. I'm excited to read more about Jane, and the possible romance there. I wonder if she's going to show up again later in the story. More, though, I want to know more about Allie. It couldn't have been easy to lose a brother who was nine years old, at any age, let alone eleven, and I want to see how Salinger makes Holden deal with it. Those are my early thoughts on the novel. Hopefully, it only gets better from here!
